Omega Psi Phi was founded on November 17, 1911, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The founders were three Howard University undergraduates, -- Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper and Frank Coleman. Joining them was their faculty adviser, Dr. Ernest Everett Just.

The Black Fatherhood Celebration Weekend hosted by the Men of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated – Gamma Phi Chapter Nashville, Tennessee.

Sunday, June 19, 2016 (Father’s Day)

  1. A “Call to Action Mixer” to kick-off the Celebration Weekend at the Z. Alexander Looby Center for interested parties to gather, interact and prepare.
  2. A Saturday Morning Prayer Breakfast at the Z. Alexander Looby Center featuring great food and keynote addresses that encourage and celebrate the dedication of Black Fathers/Father Figures.
  3. The Black Fatherhood Celebration March & Rally from the Z. Alexander Looby Center to the North Precinct of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
  4. A Sunday Morning “Church Service Invasion” at Jefferson Street Baptist Church beginning at 11:00 a.m.

About the event

This worthy effort is aimed at dispelling myths and to encourage and celebrate Black Fathers and Black Father Figures who play a positive role in the lives of young people across Middle Tennessee.
